Sponsored by the Stanford Humanities Center, Arcade is a place for readers and writers interested in the humanities and the world. We publish a broad range of exciting research and reflection, from the accessible to the esoteric, across languages, historical periods, and generations. All of our features are intended to be best of their kind: curated but participatory, technologically rich in the service of intellectual exchange, and open to multiple modalities. Arcade belongs to the Open Access Movement in publishing.
As a Digital Public Fellow since 2024, I help manage our interventions (timely pieces native to Arcade) and colloquies (scholarship made open access through our partnership with publishers around the world and curated by experts across the humanities). By liaising with academic presses, journal publishers, and small presses, I help to ensure the rich scholarly tradition happening at the humanities center and in the humanities more broadly remains open to everyone. The breadth of this work demonstrates the integral role of the humanities in the world.
